Carpentry repairs in Fairfax County, VA
Fairfax County is split levels and colonials from the 60s and 70s, from Annandale and Springfield out to Vienna and Burke, with Reston's contemporaries and the big McLean houses on top. The 60s houses have solid doors and iron rails worth keeping. The 80s and 90s neighborhoods in Centreville and Chantilly have the hollow core doors, the MDF trim and the rails that were never bolted.
Or call or text (240) 616-4788. Hours 8 to 6, Monday through Saturday.
Split level rails and colonial doors along 66 and the Beltway
The crew runs a Fairfax day down 66 and the Beltway, Vienna and McLean first, then Fairfax city and Burke, with Reston and Herndon on their own day. HOA rules on storm door style and color come up on most exterior jobs out here, and we hand you the model sheet for the application before anything is bought.
Split levels in Annandale, Springfield and Falls Church have a half flight at the entry with a short rail that was set into the wall with nothing behind it. It is the rail that comes loose first and the one the home inspector flags at resale. We open the wall, add blocking, reset the brackets into solid wood and patch and paint the same visit.

Fairfax County door and railing questions
- My home inspector flagged a loose rail before closing. How fast can you fix it?
- Usually within two business days. A loose rail with blocking behind it is a quick reset. One with nothing behind it gets blocking, a patch and paint in the same visit, and you get a photo for the buyer's agent.
- Do I need a Fairfax County permit to swap doors or trim?
- No. Replacing doors, rails and trim like for like is exempt. Changing the size of an exterior opening needs a permit from Land Development Services, and we say so at the estimate if your job crosses that line.
- Does the crew know the Reston Association rules?
- We ask for the design guidelines on every exterior job in Reston and in the HOA neighborhoods, and we give you the storm door model and color sheet to attach to the application.
